Think about the best concerts you've attended and chances are you had a lot of fun, dancing and smiling throughout the show. This is exactly the kind of vibe you will experience when Black Masala is performing live. Performing hundreds of shows a year has helped Washington, DC's gypsy punk brass band hone their sound, while injecting it with a healthy dose of funk, soul and eclectic grooves. Black Masala is all about having fun!

In 2015 Black Masala released their second studio album, I Love You Madly and has plans to release remixes of that album later this year. I Love You Madly was well received and reached #2 on the CMJ World Chart and #4 on Canada's national Earshot radio chart.

On their second album it is clear that Black Masala are having a lot of fun incorporating various musical influences into their go-anywhere Brass sound. Ranging from Gypsy punk, Balkan brass and New Orleans funk, to Bhangra and bounce, this is an album for the multicultural music listener. The heavy horns and danceable rhythms tie "I Love You Madly" together and create an album that can be played for a wide range of audiences.

The band has not let up since releasing the album, touring heavily with their infectious live show to clubs and festivals up and down the East Coast. This fall sees the band reaching new heights and new regions with some exciting tour dates. New fans will be hooked and those already familiar with the band will be excited to hear and see new instruments and songs.

Growing up in New Jersey, Luke was involved with music at an early age. Learning how to play piano, electric guitar, and the drums were Luke’s first involvement with music and he did it all before 6th grade. With a move across country from New Jersey to Jackson, Wyoming, the distance between learning and playing new instruments got larger. It wasn’t until several years later Luke began to mess around with freestyling during his high school years spent at Jackson Hole High. Evolving his new found musical expression into writing detailed lyrics, he began to find that he could vent the stresses of everyday life through creating music. In early 2017, Abstract was invited on his first tour by New York Phenom, Yonas. Abstract and his team have spent the last year releasing singles while working on a massive album behind the scenes. What's next to come is sure to be a "movie".

The Weight Band originated in 2013 inside the famed Woodstock, New York barn of Levon Helm when Jim Weider and Randy Ciarlante — both former members of The Band — performed “Songs of The Band” with Band founder, Garth Hudson, alongside Jimmy Vivino and Byron Isaacs.   Inspired to carry on the legacy of the unforgettable rock group, Weider (guitar, mandolin, vocals), Ciarlante and Isaacs began performing fan favorites from The Band catalog to audiences across the country, inviting Marty Grebb (keyboards, organ, horns, vocals) and Brian Mitchell (keyboards, organ, accordion, vocals) to complete their sound.  The Weight Band later added Albert Rogers (bass, vocals) and Michael Bram (drums, vocals) to make up their current lineup with Weider, Mitchell and Grebb. Together, after four years of touring, The Weight Band has recorded a new album of original material, capturing The Band’s musical tradition and packaged for today’s vibrant Americana base. The Weight Band’s musical connections to The Band run deep.  Replacing Robbie Robertson as a member of The Band in 1985, Weider toured internationally with Levon Helm, Garth Hudson and Rick Danko.  His tenure included writing for and recording three studio albums with The Band. Weider and Brian Mitchell are also members of Levon Helm's Midnight Ramble Band.  Five time Grammy-award winner Brian Mitchell is highly regarded in the music industry. Marty Grebb, formerly with The Buckinghams and who has performed with Leon Russell, Bonnie Raitt, and countless others, contributed to both The Band’s Jericho and Jubilation albums.  Albert Rogers shared the stage with Helm and Hudson in The Jim Weider Band.  Michael Bram joined The Weight Band after seven years touring with Jason Mraz.

Recently the group released their first full-length studio album, World Gone Mad, an Americana/Roots Rock masterpiece of the Woodstock sound.   The acclaimed album features special guest, Jackie Greene, as well as co-writing contributions from Levon Helm.

Prepare for an unforgettable performance and enjoy timeless hits like "The Weight," "Up On Cripple Creek," "Ophelia," "The Night They Drove Old Dixie Down," "Rag Mama Rag" and so many others.  Hear the most authentic presentation of The Band's music performed on stage, and see why the Chicago Sun Times proclaimed “THE WEIGHT carries on where THE BAND left off.”  Come and take a load off.
