Section 1: Theme setup – 10 mins

  1. Get plugins
    1. Activate “Child Themify” plugin
    2. Activate “Hide Title” plugin
  2. Child theme setup
    1. Install “Tuto” theme
    2. Go to “Theme Details”
    3. Click “Create a Child Theme”
    4. Name it “Tuto-child” and confirm
    5. Go back to Theme page and Activate “Tuto-child”

Section 2: Theme customization – 10 mins

  1. Upload Logo and Favicon
    1. Go to: Appearance>Customize>Site Identity
    2. Select Logo (500px wide max looks best)
    3. Uncheck “Display site title and tagline”
    4. Select Icon (512px X 512px)
    5. Click “Save and Publish”
  2. Upload Background
    1. Go to: Appearance>Customize>Background Image
    2. Select Background image (1200px X 800px looks best)
    3. Check Settings: “No repeat”, “Center”, “Fixed”, “Scale background image to full size”
    4. Click “Save and Publish”

Section 3: Menu setup – 10 mins

  1. Add pages
    1. Go to: “Pages>Add New”, and add all required pages, including a “Home” page.
    2. Go to “Settings>Reading” and setup “Home” as Front Page Display.
  2. Create main menu
    1. Go to: “Appearance>Menus”
    2. Create a new menu called “Main”
    3. Add all pages to “Main” and structure menu items
    4. *If a 1st level menu item has subpages, you may need to add that 1st level page as a Custom Link, so that it doesn’t take the user to a blank page”
    5. Check “Theme Locations – Main Navigation”
    6. Save Menu
  3. Create header menu
    1. Go to: “Appearance>Menus”
    2. Click “Create a New Menu”, label it “Header”
    3. Go to Custom Link, and add client phone number
    4. Go to Custom Link , and add client email
    5. Check “Theme Locations – Header Navigation”
    6. Save Menu
  4. Create social media menu
    1. Go to: “Appearance>Menus”
    2. Click “Create a New Menu”, label it “Social”
    3. Go to Custom Link, and add Facebook link
    4. Go to Custom Link , and add Instagram link
    5. Go to Custom Link , and add Twitter link
    6. Go to Custom Link , and add YouTube link
    7. Check “Theme Locations – Social Icons”
    8. Save Menu
  5. Setup Widgets
    1. Go to: “Appearance>Widgets”
    2. Delete all existing widgets under “Sidebar”
    3. Add appropriate Widgets per client request

Section 4: TicketWeb Events plugin – 10 mins

  1. Initial Settings
    1. Go to “TicketWeb>TicketWeb”
    2. Add API Key, Venue ID and Org ID
    3. Save
  2. Update “page.php” (Installing the Feature Slider)
    1. Go to: “Appearance>Editor”
    2. Select Theme to Edit: “Tuto”
    3. Go to: “Single Page (page.php)”
    4. Add this Code after:
    5. Go to: “TicketWeb>Events – TW”
    6. Choose events to feature, and select “Yes” to display in Slider.
    7. Click “Save”
  3. Activate list view
    1. Go to: “Pages>Home”
    2. Add shortcode:
    3. Check “Hide Title”, located on right sidebar
    4. Click Publish

Section 5: Footer setup – 15 mins

  1. Phone number, email address
  2. Physical address with Google Maps shortlink, Hours of operation
  3. Small logo
  4. Update “footer.php”
